Data Requests and Deletion
Last updated: 28 September 2026
How to access, correct, object to, delete or de-identify your personal information
You may contact Sileo Vehicle Sales (Pty) Ltd to exercise the rights available to you under POPIA and other applicable South African law. This process covers information collected through our website, applications, direct dealings, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and other communication channels.
For more information about how we process personal information, see our Privacy Policy at https://sileosales.co.za/privacy-policy.
1. Requests you may make
- Confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you.
- Access to personal information we hold about you, subject to lawful limitations.
- Correction or updating of inaccurate, incomplete, excessive or outdated information.
- Objection to processing in circumstances allowed by POPIA.
- Withdrawal of consent where our processing relies on consent.
- Deletion, destruction or de-identification where the information is no longer authorised or required to be retained.
2. How to submit a request
Email riekard@sileo.co.za with the subject line "Data Request" or "Data Deletion Request". Please include:
- Your full name and reliable contact details.
- The type of request you are making and enough detail for us to identify the relevant information.
- If the request concerns Facebook or Instagram, the platform, your username or account identifier, and the approximate date or subject of the conversation.
- Any reference number, vehicle, application or transaction detail that will help us locate the record.
Do not send us your password, one-time PIN, banking login details or other account credentials.
3. Identity verification
To protect you and other people, we may ask for reasonable information or documents to verify your identity and authority before acting on a request. We will request only what is reasonably necessary for verification. If someone acts for you, we may require proof of their authority.
4. What happens after we receive a request
- We will acknowledge or assess the request and may ask for clarification or verification.
- We will search the systems and records reasonably relevant to the request.
- We will communicate the outcome and take the required action as soon as reasonably practicable, subject to applicable law.
- If we cannot fully comply, we will explain the lawful reason where we are permitted to do so.
We generally do not charge for a request merely to confirm whether we hold personal information. A lawful fee may apply to access or copies in circumstances permitted by POPIA or PAIA, and we will tell you before incurring it.
5. Deletion requests and lawful retention
A deletion request does not always require the immediate removal of every record. We may retain information where required or permitted for legal, regulatory, accounting, contractual, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, security or evidentiary purposes. We may also retain a minimal record of the request and the action taken.
Where deletion is appropriate, we will delete, destroy or de-identify the relevant information in our active systems and take reasonable steps regarding copies held by service providers. Residual backup copies may remain protected until overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle.
6. Facebook and Instagram data
If you ask us to delete information received through Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp or a Meta Lead Ad, identify the relevant platform and, where possible, your username, contact details, approximate date, conversation subject, or the lead form or advert involved. Our current process keeps the message and lead conversation record within Meta Business Suite. We will remove or de-identify information under our control where required, subject to lawful retention. This may limit our ability to continue the conversation, process the enquiry or provide the requested service.
If information from a conversation or Meta Lead Ad was separately captured to create an application or assess or facilitate a preliminary pre-approval, tell us whether your request also covers that application record. Meta advertising and reporting information may be aggregated or de-identified; where we can reasonably identify information about you that is under our control, we will process your request as described on this page.
Deleting information from our systems does not necessarily delete information held independently by Meta or information in your own platform account. You may need to use Meta's account and privacy controls for those records.
7. POPIA forms
You may use the prescribed POPIA forms published by the Information Regulator, including Form 1 for an objection and Form 2 for correction or deletion, or provide a substantially similar written request. The current forms are available at https://inforegulator.org.za/popia/.
8. Contact and complaints
Send requests or questions to the contact below. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
